Tuck-under garages
The classic Marina flat has a shallow garage under the living room. We can detail in place with the door open and the car pulled forward a foot or two, and we bring our own lighting for the back half.
The Marina is the flattest neighborhood in the city and one of the hardest on paint. Salt mist blows straight off the bay across Marina Green and Crissy Field, the wind never really stops, and finding a legal curb spot on Chestnut or Union can take longer than the wash itself. R1 Shine works from a fully self-contained van at your tuck-under garage, in a Lombard motor court, or at the curb once we have sorted out the Tuesday and Thursday sweep schedule with you. Packages start at $140, with same-week windows and no driveway required.

Marina residents already know the routine: circle Chestnut three times, take the spot four blocks from home, and remember whether tomorrow is a Tuesday or Thursday sweep. For a mobile detail, that means we do the planning before the van leaves the yard. If you have a tuck-under garage beneath your flat, we work in the garage with the door up and the van at the curb. If you park in one of the Lombard Street motor courts, most managers are fine with us as long as we stay in your stall and keep water contained. For pure street parking, you send us the block and the sweep schedule, and we pick a window on the off day.

Motel-style motor courts along Lombard are a normal venue for us. We work in your assigned space, run hoses from the van at the street, and keep the walkway clear for other guests and residents.
We keep a note of which side of each Marina block sweeps on which morning. Book with your block and we will propose a window that leaves the car legally parked the whole time.
Nothing in the Marina is more than a half-mile from open bay water, and the afternoon wind pushes a fine salt mist over every block from Marina Boulevard back to Union Street. Salt sits on the paint, pulls moisture out of the air overnight, and slowly dulls the clear coat while it works into wheel hubs, door hinges, and trim. The wind also carries sand and grit from Crissy Field and the Marina Green, which turns an ordinary wash into a scratch risk if the car is not rinsed first. Inside, the neighborhood lifestyle shows up as beach sand in the carpet, dog hair on every seat, and damp towels left in the trunk.
We rinse salt off before any mitt touches the paint, then wash and seal. A sealant or ceramic-grade finish gives the salt something to sit on that is not your clear coat, and it rinses clean far more easily.
A car parked on Marina Boulevard or Bay Street collects a gritty film in a single afternoon. Our two-bucket method with grit guards keeps that sand out of the wash mitt and off the paint.
Beach days at Crissy Field and mornings at the Marina Green off-leash area bring sand and hair into the cabin. We use rubber brushes and detail vacuums on the carpet and seats; heavy pet hair is quoted before we start.
Each Marina appointment is planned around where the car actually sits, what the weather leaves on it, and how it is driven.
Every exterior package in the Marina starts with a pre-rinse to lift salt and wind-blown sand before we wash with pH-balanced shampoo. The Signature package adds spray wax and the Elite package adds the clay bar and paint protection finish, which is the combination that keeps bay salt from dulling paint on a car that lives outside.
Crissy Field weekends and Marina Green dog walks fill carpets with sand and seats with hair. We use rubber-bristle brushes to lift hair, extract sand from the carpet fibers, and shampoo the upholstery in the Signature and Elite packages. Heavy pet hair is quoted before work starts so there are no surprises.
For a car that spends every night on Marina Boulevard, Beach Street, or anywhere north of Lombard, a ceramic-grade finish is the single most useful upgrade. It shrugs off salt residue, makes fog water spots easier to remove, and keeps the paint glossy through the windy months. We prep the paint with clay before applying it.
Marina and Cow Hollow cars do a lot of Tahoe, Stinson, and Point Reyes trips. After a weekend away we tackle mud on the lower panels, bug residue on the front bumper, sand in the cargo area, and the roof-rack grime that never gets washed. Oversized SUVs and vans are quoted upfront.
Salt collects where a normal wash never reaches: wheel barrels, lug holes, door jambs, and the plastic trim along the rocker panels. We clean the wheels inside and out with soft brushes, wipe down the jambs, and dress the trim so the salt has nothing to grab onto until the next visit.
Same package pricing in Marina & Cow Hollow as everywhere else in San Francisco. SUVs, trucks, pet hair, and heavily soiled interiors are confirmed before work starts.

Curbside, in the garage, or in a building lot anywhere in Marina. If your block is not listed, message us; it is almost certainly covered.
A practical maintenance schedule based on where the car parks and how it is driven.
Signature every 4 to 6 weeks. The salt mist is relentless this close to the water, and the spray wax needs refreshing that often to keep doing its job. An Elite service twice a year resets the paint protection.
Signature every 2 months. The garage cuts the overnight salt exposure, but daily drives along Marina Boulevard and the weekend beach runs still bring grit and sand home.
Essential every 3 to 4 weeks for the interior alone, with a Signature every quarter for the upholstery shampoo. Regular vacuuming keeps hair and sand from working deep into the carpet backing.
Essential every 6 to 8 weeks with an Elite service once a year. Add ceramic-grade protection if the car sits in an uncovered stall exposed to the afternoon wind.

Flat pricing, same as the rest of the city: $140 for Essential, $200 for Signature, and $280 for Elite. Elite includes clay bar and the paint protection finish, which is what we recommend for cars that sleep outside near the bay. Pet hair, sand-heavy interiors, oversized vehicles, and paint correction are quoted before work starts. Ceramic-grade protection is available as an add-on.
Yes. Tell us your block and which side you park on, and we will book a Monday, Wednesday, Friday, or Saturday window so the car stays legal the entire time. We need roughly a 15-foot working radius around the car, which usually means the space in front or behind it is open; if the block is packed, we can also meet you at a friend's driveway or a nearby motor court. Our van carries its own water and power, so the curb is all we need.
Yes, this is the most common Marina setup we work in. We park the van at the curb, run hose and power into the garage, and work with the door up. The car usually needs to be pulled forward a little so we can open all four doors. Water stays contained, and we bring lighting for the back of the garage.
We pre-rinse every car to lift the salt film before a mitt touches the paint, wash with grit guards, and finish with spray wax on Signature or the paint protection finish on Elite. For cars parked on Marina Boulevard or Beach Street year-round, we recommend ceramic-grade protection so the salt sits on the coating rather than the clear coat. Wheels, jambs, and trim get their own de-salting pass.
